Clean Air Initiatives
Smart Solutions for Healthier Air
Big West Oil is proud to partner with the Utah Clean Air Partnership (UCAIR) to improve Utah’s air quality through the Smart Thermostat Program. This initiative provides low-to-moderate-income families with free Google Nest and ecobee smart thermostats, along with installation support, helping households save an average of $131–$145 per year on energy costs. By reducing energy waste and emissions, the program lowers utility bills, conserves resources, and contributes to cleaner air for all Utahns. To date, the partnership has helped provide over 800 SmartThermostats in support of this important clean air initiative.
Caring for the Great Salt Lake
Big West Oil is proud to partner with Utah State University’s Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air. As the institute’s first Peak-Level community partner, Big West Oil is deepening its commitment to sustainability, clean air and water, and science-based decision-making. This partnership supports key initiatives such as the Great Salt Lake Strike Team and advances research, student opportunities, and environmental leadership across Utah.

Supporting our Youth
Investing in Students
We are committed to supporting the well-being of students and families in the communities where we live and work. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Davis Education Foundation to establish Teen Wellness Centers in every high school across the district. We’ve also expanded early literacy programs in all Davis School District Head Start and Title I classrooms, and supported greater access to books and STEM field trips for students.
Feeding Local Hunger
More families in Davis County are experiencing hunger than ever before. To help, Big West Oil has partnered with the Bountiful Food Pantry over the past several years to support their Pallet Project, providing essential food to families in need.
With the help of community members, the pantry distributes more than 2.1M meals each year, without charge, to low-income families.

Call to Action Scholarship Program
The Call to Action Scholarship is a need-based program that covers the full cost of attendance for eligible students at non-profit, regionally accredited public universities and colleges in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, or Utah.
In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients receive ongoing mentorship, academic counseling, and connections to social support services—ensuring they are well-equipped to succeed in college and their future careers.

Call to Action Philanthropies partners with technical schools across Utah, helping students pursue careers in welding, heavy equipment operation, diesel technology, construction, and many other skilled trades.
